About the Animal - Eastern Wild Turkey
Eastern wild Turkeys can be found in 38 states and numerous Canadian provinces. They are the most widely distributed and abundant subspecies of wild turkey. Adult males weigh about 18 to 30 lbs. They are characterized by the chestnut-colored tips on their tail feathers and black and white barring on their wings. They are the second hardest subspecies to call in. First place goes to the Osceola Turkey. The Eastern Turkey has the strongest gobble, and longest beards of all the subspecies.
