This gorgeous 8 Point Coues deer buck has a nice, wide basket rack with wonderfully symmetrical antlers. Coues deer don't get as big as their whitetail cousins, but this is a big Coues deer! His coloring is typical for the species in tan, gray, and brown with the characteristic white chin. If you're looking for a complement to your deer collection, this is a nice one! About the Coues Deer

Scientific Name: Odocoileus virginianus couesi

Coues deer are smaller than other white-tail deer, following Bergmann's Rule that average size is greater for animals farther from the equator. The Coues deer was first identified in 1895-1896 by an army physician stationed in Ft. Whipple, Arizona, Dr. Elliott Coues, who pronounced his name “cows.” Despite the original pronunciation of the doctor’s name, it is now more commonly pronounced as “cooz.”
